In early June, thousands gathered in Juneau, Alaska for Celebration 2026, the biennial cultural festival hosted by the Sealaska. This year’s theme “Enduring Strength” was a four-day event bringing together the Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian people from across Alaska and beyond to honor traditions, strengthen cultural connections, and celebrate Indigenous identity.

Recognized as one of the largest gatherings of Southeast Alaska Native peoples, Celebration welcomed thousands of attendees and more than 35 dance groups. Traditional singing and dancing remained at the heart of the festival as performers in vibrant regalia shared ancestral songs, stories, and dances passed down through generations.

The event also showcased the creativity and talent of Indigenous artists through the Native Artist Market, juried art exhibitions, and open-house experiences. Visitors had the opportunity to purchase authentic Alaska Native artwork while learning about the cultural significance behind carvings, weaving, jewelry, and other traditional art forms.

Other highlights included the popular Indigenous Fashion Show, Native food contests, youth art exhibitions, and traditional Native games, all designed to celebrate and preserve the rich heritage of Southeast Alaska’s Indigenous communities.
